Getting a tanker through Hormuz: traffic at half of June, tankers at a quarter, and the owners who make it are up 150%.

Ships have been hit from both sides in the Strait of Hormuz this month: the biggest wave of attacks on shipping since the war began on 11 September, an Iranian commercial ship struck on 13 September, and Iran saying it struck an oil tanker on 18 September. The tape's chokepoint layer (IMF PortWatch transit calls) shows Hormuz traffic averaging 4.3 vessels a day in September against 10.7 in June, and tankers 1.2 a day against 4.8. Gulf tankers are running out of ways to export oil; Saudi Arabia reportedly offered more crude via Hormuz after a pipeline attack on 17 September, and Centcom says over a billion barrels have still passed through in recent months. Tanker owners are the year's winners: Frontline +150%, International Seaways +137%, Nordic American +145%.
