The Pentagon puts the Iran war bill at $33.4 billion, and says weapons are running short. Oil stays over $100.

On 15 September the Pentagon tallied the cost of the Iran war at $33.4 billion, with 'strategic' weapons shortfalls and hundreds of buildings and aircraft damaged (CNBC); the BBC reported the Pentagon inspector confirming munitions shortfalls the same day. The war flared again on 1 September when US Central Command struck Iran after new attacks on Hormuz shipping; Iran attacked a US ship on 6 September, vessels and a US base in Jordan on 9 September after five Iranian tankers were destroyed, and ten ships near the Strait on 10 September, sending Brent over $100. Brent settled at $103.87 on 18 September. This week The Hill reported a Pentagon briefing that frustrated senators and a casualty count that leaves out some deaths.
